The Short Answer

Title and Registration Are One Connected File

A Montana title shows who owns the vehicle; registration authorizes the needed vehicle papers and plate issuance. We handle the LLC, check the title or new-vehicle paper and purchase records, prepare the registration papers, and handle plate processing. A title issue, lender problem, or ownership mismatch must be resolved before registration can be completed.

Record matchment

What the Title Desk Checks

The strongest file uses the same owner, vehicle identity, and lien facts everywhere.

01

Owner names

The buyer on the sale papers, intended title owner, LLC record, and registration applicant need to match.

02

VIN and vehicle description

Every document must identify the same VIN, year, make, and model without transcription conflicts.

03

Lien or lease control

A lender or lessor may control title location and prohibit entity ownership without written approval.

04

Transfer sequence

Forming the LLC before dealer paperwork is issued can avoid a corrective transfer after purchase.

Before You Start

We can’t manufacture a missing chain of ownership, release a lender’s lien, or guarantee acceptance of incomplete or conflicting title documents.

What You’ll Need

Title and Registration Documents

The final checklist depends on whether the vehicle is new, used, financed, imported, inherited, or already titled.

Ownership document

Title, manufacturer’s statement of origin, or other record establishing who owns the vehicle.

Purchase record

Bill of sale or purchase agreement identifying the vehicle, buyer, seller, and transaction.

Vehicle details

VIN, year, make, model, original MSRP if needed, and odometer disclosure if needed.

Insurance information

Coverage showing the real owner, drivers, use, and actual location where the vehicle is kept.

Identity and signer details

Current contact information and authority for the person signing entity and vehicle documents.

Lien or lease instructions

Written lender or lease-company approval and title directions when a lender or lessor controls the vehicle.

I expected a headache and got a checklist instead. Every form was pre-filled, every question answered the same day, and both cars were legal before my old registration even expired. The price was almost a footnote compared to how smooth it was.

Quick Answers

Your Questions, Answered

Is a title the same as registration?+

No. A title records ownership, while registration supports the vehicle’s authorized registration papers and plate. They are connected but distinct.

Can you fix a title in another person’s name?+

A valid transfer record is needed. The corrective path depends on the existing title, seller cooperation, liens, and transaction facts.

Where should the LLC appear?+

When the LLC is intended to own the vehicle, it should appear consistently in purchase, title, insurance, and registration records if needed.

Can a lender hold the title?+

Yes. Financed vehicles may have electronic or lender-held titles, and the lender’s instructions control lien recording and permissible ownership.

Is title work included in $1,049?+

The Standard service includes the stated registration handling and ownership-document help. Extraordinary corrective title work and required government or third-party charges are identified separately.
